BORN IN YORKSHIRE
Helen Fielding urodziła się w Yorkshire w 1958, 1959 lub 1960 roku (źródła nie są zgodne). Studia ukończyła w Oxfordzie. Studiowała literaturę angielską. Początkowo pracowała dla telewizji. Zajmowała się produkcją filmów dokumentalnych z Afryki. Doświadczenia z tego okresu posłużyły jej do napisania pierwszej powieści – Cause celeb. Helen Fielding pisała też do The Independent i The Daily Telegraph. To w rubrykach tych gazet zaczęła powstawać słynna Bridget Jones.
HER BOOKS
Helen Fielding started with Cause celeb but she had to wait until 1996 for fame. In 1996 Bridget Jones’s Diary was released and proved to be an unquestionable hit. In 1999 Britget Jones: The Edge of Reason followed. With two movies (2001 and 2004) the popularity of Bridget grew and the character became a social phenomenon, a subject of scientific articles and small talk.
Helen Fielding wrote also Bridget Jones’s Guide to Life and Bridget Jones: This time I really have changed(both in 2001). Those two however failed to gain the international popularity of the first parts.
After 3 years Olivia Joules and The Overactive Imagination was released (2004). The story taking place in the glamorous LA lacked the ready pen of Bridget’s adventures.
In 2004 Helen Fielding had her first child and haven’t written a book since. In 2005, however, Bridget Jones returned in The Independent. Jones got pregnant!
